Kit and Maria's Story
Hello! My name is Maria Diaz and I have a miniature Australian Shepherd named Kit! Kit Walker, being the full name. He is 3 months old.
I am going to be telling the adventure or journey of getting my pup. It started about 10 years ago with my old dog. She was a beagle and her name was Makala. I adopted her from the Downey animal shelter and I had her for about a year, till she was taken from me. I woke up one morning to her leash still on the floor and the gate open. At first, I had thought she ran away, so I looked for her. She had a microchip and I felt safe that she would be returned to me, but it wasn’t the case. I believe someone found her or took her from my home and I’ve never seen her since that day. Ever since then, I begged my parents for another dog. Even then, I still didn’t give up hope on finding Makala.
3 years pass and I had given up hope on finding my lovely girl. 4 years passed and my parents told me they were getting me a Yorkie, and to say I was excited was an understatement. I had waited for this for years. My parents had picked the parents and we waited for them to breed. Though 2 years later, the parents still hadn’t bred and I gave up on having a dog. This year, I had the resolution to have my dog. I begged my parents to let me have a dog and they FINALLY agreed after years.
Now I know some people don’t agree with breeders and believe that all dogs should be adopted from a shelter, I believe that too. Everyone deserves a home. that being said, I wanted my dream dog. I wasn’t going to settle for less, I had waited for so long. It doesn’t justify me buying a dog but those puppies deserve a home too. You can disagree with me but everyone deserves a home if you can’t exclude bought puppies from that.
That being said, I searched high and low to find my dog. I searched for many months, for many hours, for many days on puppyfind.com. After months, I had found my dog. He was small, sweet and had blue eyes. I showed my parents and they agreed, I quickly made arrangements to meet the breeder. I told my boyfriend and we were both very excited to have our own son. I drove many miles to get him and I have no regrets.
Kit changed my life for the better and he changes my life every day. He really saved me. I couldn’t ask for a more rascal of a dog. He’s a hassle but I still love him. My boyfriend and I are happy to welcome him to our small family and keep him for as long as we can. He’s our son and we’ll always love him dearly, even after he’s gone. You may not agree with how I got him but he saved me and brings a smile to my face every day, and I hope he will to you too.
