Clay came to me during a low point in my life. I had lost my first dog to a brain tumor, I was moving to a new area with my husband where I knew no one, and not to mention my husband schedule was bit extreme. I was alone a lot, and with that came the battle of depression and anxiety.

Cue Clay! I decided to go watch a DockDogs Event, and I took him with me. Of course with a puppy, everyone was talking with me and I didn’t mind because dogs are something I was passionate about. Eventually, I got enough courage to reach out to a local club about trying DockDogs.

We were hooked. We have traveled North and South together to compete. He has brought more smiles to my face than I can count and we have shared a few too many ice cream cones along the way. He has helped me break free from my comfort zone, and is always there to lend extra snuggles on those tough days. Clay has made me a better person. A person I didn’t think I could be. That person is happy.

Clay is a 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer and is competing in DockDogs in Virginia.
